The mackerel is an open sea FISH and is
closely related to the TUNA. Mackerel have
deeply forked tails, narrowed where they join
the body, finlets behind the dorsal and anal
fins, and streamlined bodies. They are
superb, swift swimmers of generally large
size are important commercially as food. They
travel in schools and feed on other fish,
especially HERRING, and SQUID, and migrate
between deep and shallow waters. The largest
mackerel is a tuna and weighs upto
¾ton(680kg), amoung the smallest is the
common mackerel of the Atlantic.
